production and transparency

Thank you so much for the linen loving and taking the time to be interested and find importance in knowing where the products you invest in are created.
I appreciate a customer who is asking these questions.
So to be clear, I wanted to have a place here permanently on the website to show I am more than happy to be completely transparent. Green washing has become so rife in the world of production.
My linen bedding and loungewear is 100% linen.
It is European Certified ® meaning it is tracked from seed grain and growth and grown in Europe (France)
It is also GOTS® certified proving it is organic from growth to final production stages.
Linen is measured by weight - our's is between 180 - 210gsm.
Linen is derived from the Flax plant and the Flax is woven to create the linen fibre.
The flax used to create my linens is 100% French and from France - with the European Certification®
Dazed but Amazed linen is custom woven and created to order for me, by my production team whom are based in China.
They are a completely ethical production team, their work standards are high and I pay a very high rate.
Our production comes with Sedex Certified proving manufacturing with an organization that adheres to Sedex's globally recognised ethical trade and sustainability standards, demonstrating a commitment to responsible supply chain practices and transparency.
The company are Oeko Tex Certified® and as of 2022 Organic GOTS® certified.
* Oeko Tex 100 is an independent certification proving no harmful chemicals are used in any stages of production.
* GOTS Organic Certified is a globally recognised organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labelling in order to provide a credible assurance to the end consumer.
We also received independent reporting on the work standards of our factory and workers which is received on a bi-annual basis (Sedex Certificate)
The fact my linens are custom woven means I do not buy linen on a roll. There is no waste. It is made to order and in this sense means very minimal to no waste at all.
Even with the small cut offs I do have - this is kept and utilised in ways we use to create, so far this has looked like - offering swatches, limited tonal tea towel collection, Patchwork bed cover's in varying sizes & most recently our Wrapper skirt dress collaboration with La Réunion Studio from the extra fabrics so nothing is wasted.
Since our launch in 2015 all of our Linens have been Oeko Tex certified and now in 2023 all our linen is 100% Organic GOTS certified.
Our production processes actually have not changed in this period at all - it has just taken this time to get the full approval of seed growth, manufacture and make to consumer delivery certified all independently by GOTS.
Linen is also more ethical and sustainable in the way the plants are grown and also the way the linen is woven. Using a lot less water in production than that of cotton and the fabric in general depending on its thickness and use has longevity meaning it will last a lot longer and not need replacing as regularly as a cotton sheeting for example.

To be clear I definitely do not cut and sew the sheets - the cost and also waste in this situation would be unbearable for those that may think I hand make my bedding myself from scratch.
Beginning the business as stay at home mum whom also runs my business and have no employees so all the customer service, packing, parcelling, shipping and dyeing is done by me and now my husband also - we are a small team of two.
I have from our launch in 2015 until 2021 offered a collection of dyed to order by me -  hand dyeing all of the linen myself, and then due to demand in our product I introduced the dba collection of ready dyed linens in late 2018.
The colours matched perfectly to my hand dyed hues - these are all 100% GOTS certified organic and allow me to more easily offer my tonal sets and have a ready to shop/ship item.
I have also offered limited collections of ARQ organic underwear hand dye'd by me in limited releases sporadically.
With our family relocating to an off grid property at the end of 2021 the dye to order collection has ceased. This may return at some point but also with limited water and electricity supply at this stage unlikely for big bedding items.
Please let me know if I can help you with any further information.
I hope you puts you at ease with supporting Dazed.
Kindest
Jes
