Yukul Art

Lara Went is a Contemporary Aboriginal artist and a proud Worimi woman. Inspiration is drawn from her natural world around her, the ocean, her family and her culture. Each piece is hand painted by Lara from her little home studio in Forster, NSW. Each artwork tells a story & is based on her heart.

’Yukul' meaning heart in her local Aboriginal language.

’The peaceful path’

This print symbolises our peaceful walk on this earth. It represents the path we take as we journey through life. The turtles symbolise our ancient connection with this earth. Each turtle symbolises the elements- land, plants, people and animals. Take pride and respect each of these elements as you journey along life’s path and make this world a little more peaceful for everyone.

WHEREVER WE ARE IN THIS COUNTRY, WE ACKNOWLEDGE ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER PEOPLES AS FIRST INHABITANTS AND THE TRADITIONAL CUSTODIANS OF THE LANDS WHERE WE LIVE, LEARN AND WORK. WE PAY OUR RESPECT TO THE ELDERS PAST, PRESENT AND EMERGING, FOR THEY HOLD THE MEMORIES, THE TRADITIONS AND CULTURE. ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS WILL BE.
